I highly recommend Mr. Rooter for emergency plumbing needs. They were really quick to accommodate my drain/sewer emergency during the holidays. Mr. James the plumber was very knowledgeable and patient in fixing our drain issue. He gave me the options that were the most cost effective and cleaned up behind him, which I really appreciate!

This is the second time that we've looked to Mr. Rooter for an issue at our home. This time it was due to a leak coming from the upstairs bathroom, which destroyed the drywall in our kitchen. We had a restoration company take our the damaged drywall, and we initially called a different plumbing company to come out and diagnose the leak. The initial plumber from the different company did absolutely nothing to diagnose the leak. He stared at the plumbing and told me to run the water for a few days until we found the leak and then call him back. I called Mr. Rooter the next morning and Ronny came out. Simply put, he was awesome. He told me he wouldn't leave until we found out where the leak was coming from. He did a number of tests and about 10 minutes he identified it as a leak in the tile upstairs, not the plumbing. Then, since we were returning customers, they didn't even charge us. 100% reccomend Mr. Rooter and Ronny!

Frequently Asked Questions About Sewer Line Repair in Metamora, Michigan

If you need more information about sewer line repair services to make an informed decision, read the answers to our commonly asked questions below. If you have any questions about plumbing services in Metamora from Mr. Rooter Plumbing®, our team is here to take your call.

  • Sewer line materials, length, installation location, and property layout can all contribute to how much you pay for sewer line replacement, so contact a trusted sewer line installation expert to find out more information and to request a job estimate. Whether your sewer line replacement expert chooses a trenchless tech method like pipe bursting or traditional excavation plays a part in sewer line replacement costs. You may expect to pay more or less for sewer line replacement depending on the type of materials your sewer line replacement team uses, such as PVC, HDPE, and ABS. Experts factor costs like permits, regulations, access, labor, and site restoration after the job is done into a job estimate for sewer line replacement.

  • The costs to repair a sewer line can differ from one customer to the next due to factors like the repairs needed, but you can typically expect $50 to $300 per foot for equipment and skill. Ask a trusted sewer line repair service provider about their favored repair approaches since some methods, like pipe lining, pipe bursting, and excavation, cost more or less than others. The extent of damage to a sewer line can play a role in how much your repair bill will be since extensive damage to a whole sewer line tends to cost more than localized damage. You may find that materials and parts contribute to your sewer line repair bill, such as HDPE, ABS, or PVC pipes, as well as couplings, repair sleeves, and connectors.

  • If the upper section of your sewer lines that carry waste from your property to the main sewer line have been damaged, the property owner is typically responsible for repairs rather than the city. Any issues relating to the lower sections of your sewer lines are typically the responsibility of the property owner, depending on your town or city. When there are problems like sewage backing up in the main sewer lines that carry wastewater to a public treatment facility, this may be something your city needs to fix and pay for. When you don’t know who’s responsible for repairing and covering the costs of sewer line problems, you can reach out to your local sewer line repair experts for advice.

  • Talk to your homeowners’ insurance provider about sewer line replacement after a fire, lightning, hail, or a windstorm since they may cover the costs if those events have caused damage. Your insurance provider may cover your sewer line replacement costs if the cause of the damage was vandalism, a falling object, an explosion, or damage from an aircraft or a vehicle. While unlikely to happen, you may be surprised to learn that your insurance company will likely cover the costs of sewer line replacement if they’re damaged in a volcanic eruption, riot, or civil disturbance. Homeowners’ insurance won’t always cover sewer line replacement if they were damaged due to a lack of maintenance or poor installation.

  • Rules and requirements for sewer line replacement permits can differ from state to state, so there is no single rule for all property owners to follow. Where your home or building is located may contribute to whether or not you need a permit to replace your sewer line. If you live in a rural location with no connections to the city water scheme, you may not need a permit to replace your sewer lines. If you have water and sewer connections to your city, it’s likely that you or your chosen sewer line replacement team will need to obtain a permit to replace your sewer lines.

  • Factors like materials can contribute to the lifespan of sewer lines, with some materials like PVC having the potential to last around 100 years, decades longer than other materials like clay. The presence of trees on your property may contribute to sewer line lifespans, with their roots having the potential to damage pipes, affect air and water pressure, and cause blockages. Exposure to minerals like calcium and magnesium can have an effect on sewer lines’ lifespan since they can cause corrosion if they feature metal materials. Several factors affect how long your sewer lines stay in good condition, like how often you maintain them, whether they were well-installed, and if they’ve experienced blockages caused by debris and grease.

  • Depending on the complexity of the project, it may take a sewer line professional between one and five days to replace sewer lines. Whether your local sewer line replacement business replaces sewer lines using traditional excavation methods or trenchless methods like pipe lining and pipe bursting can contribute to the timeframe. The more of your sewer lines you need to remove and replace, the more resources that can typically be required to get the job done. The soil conditions, how much work is involved in site preparation and restoration, and even how deep your sewer lines are can all play a part in the number of days it takes to replace a sewer line.

  • You may suddenly become aware of a possible broken sewer pipe that you need to address if you’ve begun noticing an unpleasant odor around your drains. It’s not uncommon for property owners to contact sewer line repair teams after noticing slow drainage, which sewer line cracks and clogs can cause. Soggy grass and strange sounds coming from your drains can be among the most apparent signs of a broken sewer pipe that you need to contact a service professional for help with. If you have a broken sewer pipe that hasn’t been fixed in a timely fashion, you may begin to notice cracks in your property’s foundation since the ground can become waterlogged and weakened.

  • As soon as you notice broken sewer pipes on your commercial or residential property, contacting a sewer line professional is among the best courses of action. Traditional excavation methods are commonplace for sewer line repairs and replacement, which can involve digging up the pipe, repairing or replacing it, and restoring the site. Ask your local plumbing service provider about pipe lining to repair your sewer line, which involves inserting a pipe liner into an existing sewer line and inflating it to create a new pipe inside the old one. Pipe bursting is a trenchless method for replacing broken sewer lines, where a bursting head breaks up an old pipe as a new one is pulled into place.

  • You may need to replace a sewer line if it’s old and requires ongoing repairs to keep it functioning as needed for your home or business. When your sewer lines start to cost you money in repairs due to a lack of maintenance over the years, their replacement is a worthwhile option. Tree roots in the joints of your sewer pipes are an excellent reason to consider replacement since the damage to your sewer lines can be considerable. Improper installation, materials buildup, and poor layout are all great reasons to replace a sewer line on your property.
